ABOUT US

My name is Kevin Cox aka Bossman, Effe, and Ringmaster. I am the owner of Rooster’s Landscape and Garden Supply. I am a father of 3 to Lauren, Christopher, and Jason, and a proud grandpa to my adorable grandson Mason. I am a long time 50 year old resident of Oxford. I started my first business in 1989 called Prestige Landscaping, where I quickly discovered my true passion for all aspects of landscaping and lawn care. During that time my passion to learn and gain more knowledge deepened and my desire to provide my customers with honest, reliable, and high quality service continues to this day. Over time I realized the need for us to expand services to better meet the various needs of our clients. It was at this time that B- Foreplay LLC, Lou’s Tree Service LLC, and Flatliners LLC were established. As if these businesses weren’t enough; in April 2020, My family and I opened Rooster’s Landscape and Garden Supply in Seymour, CT. We pride ourselves on our extensive quality products, along with our friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my girlfriend, family, and friends, I love traveling, lake time, snowmobiling, and all other things outdoors. 

My name is Chris, I am the father of an energetic little boy and a landscape and excavation enthusiast. I enjoy spending time with my family watching our son grow up to love machines as much as I do and playing with our dogs Levi & Dozer. I have been working in the landscape industry for as long as I can remember along side my father learning how to operate machinery, maintain properties, and manage our family businesses. On a day to day basis I manage our landscaping crews, organize tree removals, plant installations, and excavation jobs, while often working along side our employees at most of them. I look forward to working with you in the future! 

My name is Lauren. I am a mom to a very active little boy who is the light of my life. I enjoy gardening and being outside. Some of my hobbies include tending to my blueberry patch that was passed down to me from my fiances grandparents and keeping our small garden alive. I have my bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion, but took a different career path when my in laws opened Rooster’s. I work beside my fiancé managing the store along with planning tree installations, excavation jobs, and landscape designs and installations. Since opening Rooster’s I have learned so much about plants, their names, habits, and how to care for them. You can often find me outside helping customers, behind the register, in a machine loading trucks, or dancing my way through the shrub yard making a tik tok with a smiling face. Through Rooster’s I have met so many wonderful people in the community and friendships that will last a lifetime. I look forward to seeing and meeting you!

Hi, I’m Jeannine Chirstensen! I currently work at Rooster’s as a retail associate. I’ve been working in the gardening business for over 25 years. I have expertise in perennials, shrubs, trees, landscaping, and aesthetics. Over the years, I’ve worked in a multitude of different environments and learned a lot about plants. I enjoy gardening in my own time and I am very passionate about it. I pride myself on my customer service and enjoy meeting new people every day. Helping others brings joy to my life. At the start of my career, I spent time working at White Flower Farm and Lexington Gardens. While things are steadily changing and expanding in this industry, I gained a lot of my experience there. As I progressed throughout my career, I gained more and more knowledge. Some skills I’ve spent a great amount of time on are memorizing latin names, creating displays, understanding growth conditions, and creating the best possible customer service experience. Working at Rooster’s has been one of the most positive experiences of my life. Here, we are more than just a landscape supply co, we’re a family. Getting to wake up in the morning and do what I love is one of my favorite parts of my job. I get to see so many different faces and I learn something new every day. Working with plants and being in nature has helped me to connect with myself and others. I hope to see you soon and chat about all your gardening needs! The possibilities are endless!

I started my career in horticulture in 1984 working part time at a small garden center in Woodbury while attending college in Waterbury. Eventually it turned into full time and I started taking over the perennial department organizing them alphabetically by latin name which made them easier to find for customers. This really helped me to learn all the perennials and their botanical names. I moved on to manage another small garden center off the beaten path near Roxbury, CT. IT was also a landscape company that took care of properties in the area. We worked hard to build our customer base at the garden center with friendly customer service and having beautiful, healthy plants and essential products for gardening. After several years I took a position at a large nursery that was a year round operation. They grew a lot of annuals and perennials too. I learned a lot about production there. I was in charge of the perennial department, but was also heavily involved in the tree and shrub department. I was also very involved in the ordering process which is very important to a successful nursery. During my career I have also gained a lot of knowledfge of plant disease and insect issues and help customers to identify the problem and find the proper solution to treat and care for their plants. I am known for my exception customer service that can be an art form at times when working in retail. I am also known for my vast knowledge of plant material and maintenance issues. I look forward to helping Rooster’s grow and become a go to for people in the local community. 

Hello! My name is Jessica. I started my career in customer in retail sales specializing in customer service. I then transitioned over to  Rooster’s with now over 20 years of experience in merchandising, marketing, customer service, and more. I bring a lot of energy and knowledge to the team. For as long as I can remember I’ve had a passion for gardening and the eye for beautiful and unique indoor and outdoor plants. It has become a hobby of mine for several years now. My name is Karrie. I am a mom of 2 girls and Mema to my wonderful grandson and soon to a granddaughter. When I am not at roosters my grandson keeps me very busy outside. We love to tend to our small animal farm and chickens. I am an animal lover and recently have grown to enjoy gardening and tending to my tropical trees.

Hi my name is Jason, at Rooster’s you might see me loading your truck with bulk material or dropping deliveries off at customer’s homes. I work full time on our landscaping crew with Prestige and sometimes help with landscape installations! Outside of work I love spending time with my dog Scratch, playing corn hole with my friends, and working on my home! 

We employ students from a local Agriculture High School to work and fulfill their hours for their SAE. A supervised agricultural activity allows highschool students to get work experience in agricultural fields, teaches them responsibility, and counts as credits towards their graduation.
